Working principle

The core components of the widely-applied scraper-type self-cleaning filter include the filter cylinder, filter screen, scraper system, drive device (usually electric motor), control system and flushing valve. Its working process can be roughly divided into the following steps:

1. Filtration stage

Water enters the filter from the water inlet, and when passing through the filter, impurities are trapped on the surface or inside the filter, while clean water flows downstream of the system through the filter.

2. Monitoring and triggering cleaning

The built-in differential pressure sensor or time controller of the device monitors the pressure difference at both ends of the filter or automatically triggers the cleaning program when the pressure difference reaches the set value or the time is reached according to the preset time period.

3. Scratching process

The drive device starts to drive the scraper system to move along the surface of the filter screen. The scraper is tightly fitted to the filter screen design, which can effectively scrape off the dirt attached to the filter screen and concentrate it in the collection area at the bottom of the filter cartridge.

4. Sewage flushing

At the same time or after scraping, the sewage valve is opened, and the collected dirt is discharged from the filter using the pressure of the system itself or the power provided by the external flushing pump to complete the cleaning process.

5. Restore filtration

After the cleaning is completed, the sewage valve is closed, and the system returns to normal filtration state. The whole process does not need to interrupt the system operation to achieve continuous water supply.
