Once the filter cake has reached the desired thickness, a signal is sent to stop the recirculation of the filtrate. At this point, the filtrate is directed through a three-way valve to the next stage of the process for further use. The filter cake, meanwhile, remains on the filter elements until it is ready to be discharged.
